Anthology

We welcome your entries for possible inclusion in our 40th anniversary anthology, subject to editorial discretion. Pieces must be family-friendly to be considered. Please review the guidelines below.

 

If you have already entered the same piece in our 39th Annual Summer Writing Contest, thank you! Just be aware that Anthology submissions are separate, collected through the orange ANTHOLOGY button at the bottom of this page.

 

WHEN: Entries may be made from June 1, 2015, through October 31, 2015.

 

WHO MAY ENTER: Anyone, anywhere! You do not have to be a Cisco Writers Club member.

 

FEES: $10.00 per entry. This fee is not refundable in the event your entry is not accepted for publication.

 

MAXIMUM LENGTH: 2,500 words (prose) or 30 lines (poetry)

 

MANUSCRIPTS must be your original, unpublished work. Enter as many pieces as you wish. Submit manuscripts (a) electronically (see orange ANTHOLOGY button below); or (b) mail a crisp, clear, typed copy by midnight, September 30, 2015 CDT. (Formatting rules differ.)

 

ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS are preferred and must be file type pdf, doc, docx, txt, rtf, wpf, odt, or wpd. (Make sure your file extension matches one of the above.) Credit, debit and PayPal are accepted through our web site, using a secure third-party provider, Submittable.com.

 

FORMATTING: Use standard 8.5" x 11" paper, printed on one side only. Margins should be no less than one or more than two inches all around. Please use 12-point Arial, Times Roman or Verdana font. Double space prose; poetry may be single-spaced. Make book synopses brief summaries, covering basic plot or theme and revealing the ending.

 

FIRST PAGE: In upper right corner place the word or line count. Double space eight times to center title; double space twice more to begin manuscript, book synopsis, or first chapter page. (Center chapter titles two double spaces below book title.)

 

SUCCEEDING PAGES: Title and page number should appear in upper right corner.

 

PAPER SUBMISSIONS may be hand delivered or mailed WITH COVER SHEET (see below) and check or money order (no cash) to Cisco Writers Club Anthology, 2301 County Road 169, Cisco TX 76437. Fasten cover sheet and manuscript with a paper clip. DO NOT STAPLE ANYTHING. Mail FLAT.

 

COVER SHEET (for paper submissions only): In the upper left corner put your name, address, telephone number and E-mail address. In the upper right corner put the word count if prose or line count if poetry. In the middle of the page center the title. DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON ANY OTHER PAGE.

 

NOTE: Paper entries will be converted to digital files for the editing process.

 

BY SUBMITTING TO THIS ANTHOLOGY you grant permission for Cisco Writers Club to use your name, town, contest placement (if any) in Cisco Writers Club's current or prior contests, and/or your photograph(s) in our publication and any publicity. We may also contact you by mail or E-mail regarding future contests, workshops or other opportunities. You may opt out at any time. By submitting you grant Cisco Writers Club one-time, first publication rights. Pieces may be edited for grammar, readability and space.

 

RETAIN A COPY of your manuscript(s) for your records. Note: While Cisco Writers Club exercises reasonable precautions, it is not responsible for lost or stolen material.

 

PUBLICATION is expected in November, 2015; title, price and ordering information to be announced soon.
